A village of home projects
Bishop Hills counts its population in the low hundreds, so there is no steady construction trade here and we do not pretend otherwise. What Bishop Hills does generate is remodels, room additions, roof replacements after hail and the occasional new house on an open lot. One standard unit covers a Bishop Hills project of that size from start to finish, serviced weekly.
A Bishop Hills remodel that takes the only bathroom out of service is the most common single-unit order we run here. We place it on the Bishop Hills driveway apron where the truck never touches landscaping.
Wind on the open west side
Bishop Hills sits high and exposed, with nothing between the village and the wind coming off the flat west of town. Every Bishop Hills unit is staked or weighted, and the door faces away from the prevailing southwest gusts. Without that, a Bishop Hills unit on an open lot will move in a spring blow.
Hail season adds a second wave of Bishop Hills work when roofers move street to street through the neighborhood. Those Bishop Hills rentals run two or three weeks and come off as soon as the crew finishes.
Gatherings, holidays and cleanup days
Bishop Hills gets together for block parties, holiday gatherings and the odd graduation cookout rather than for festivals. Two standard units and a handwashing station cover most Bishop Hills gatherings on a single afternoon. When the guest list is dressier, a Bishop Hills host usually swaps up to a deluxe flushing unit instead.
We run Monday through Saturday and stay closed Sunday, so a Bishop Hills weekend party is delivered Friday and picked up Monday. That gives Bishop Hills hosts the whole weekend without a delivery truck in the middle of it.
